A wider perspective.
I’m Deconfined, a security professional and programmer drawn to physics, mathematics, and the possibilities ahead of us.
A place to think
Technology is my craft and my refuge. My background includes military service and information security, but my interests extend into science, exploration, and the questions that don’t fit neatly into a job description.
This site is a place to share technical projects, security writeups, things I’m learning, and the occasional thought about the world outside the terminal.
Why “Deconfined”?
The name comes from my interest in physics and mathematics. It also speaks to something personal: over the past twenty years or so, I’ve embraced a much wider perspective on the world. The name holds both meanings for me.
Still looking forward
I’m disillusioned with much of the world, but I still see what we’re capable of. That’s what draws me to Star Trek and Stargate: exploration, discovery, and the possibility that imperfect people can build a future guided by principle. Humanity remains a work in progress.
I want technology to help us get there. That includes responsible AI development and use, and keeping our curiosity about what comes next.
